Seek The Truth. Stay Metal!

(Provided by LEGION magazine & Novum Vox Mortis)

Since these American brutallers visited Poland, you might have already read a couple of interviews with them. Still, we decided to talk to Jason Netherton who turned out to be the best politically educated metaller on this planet... And about DYING FETUS music one can say simply and briefly: brutal death metal in American way. A good one and of a high quality.

On DYING FETUS...

We did a full US and European tour for the album in July and August of 1998. The tour was a great success, and we are very happy with everything that Morbid Records has done to promote the band in Europe. It was a great experience and we even played in Poland, very close to the Ukrainian border, so maybe someone from the Ukraine was there. After that we have started to write songs for our next album which will be out very soon, we hope around winter of 1999. It will be even better than the last album "Killing on Adrenaline". It does not yet have a title, but it will be a step above the last one in every respect, it will be faster, harder and involve many more mosh riffs and hardcore breakdowns.

On DYING FETUS lyrics...

I think they are very educational and should be used in schools across the world as the real truth as to what is going on in the world.

On the worst thing in DYING FETUS career...

I would say all the member problems. We have gone through a lot of members and this has tended to hold us back for a long time. We could have done so much more a long time ago if only we had a better drummer when we first started. But we are happy now and things are fine.

On plans...

We just plan to do a lot of festivals here in the US, like Milwaukee and Ohio fests, and continue writing new songs for the next album. Personally, I will take a vacation to Finland to see my Finnish friends in Helsinki... "voi vittu perkele! Suomalainen sisu ja Koskenkorva!" (Jason, didn't I tell you that we are from Poland? - Ed.) Then I will come home and begin school in the fall.

On the new millenium...

I think that the millenium will bring a big evil spaceship from the planet "analsex" and it will bring many space monkeys who will come down and rape all the young people who live in the small town of Alma Ata, and these people will become the new super race of alien-humans who will take over all of Asia and destroy all elements of the capitalist bastards who have penetrated the beautiful lands of the elder race of Jesus Muhammed Ali. Prepare for revenge!

On politics...

Politics is my love, and my ultimate goal is to become the US ambassador to Russia. I want to sit in the Kremlin and drink vodka with my Russian friends and discuss the best way to invade Finland when the 3rd world war begins in 2012. I have graduated from university, and yes, can you not see that I am now mentally capable of taking full control of US foreign policy, haha?

On the Cold War...

The end of the Cold War has changed the world for the worse, and it is still changing now as regionalism and nationalism are tearing apart many nations that before lived under the shadow of the Superpowers. In a way things were more stable during the Cold War because things were more predictable then, and there was more security and control over the military (and the nuclear missles within the USSR.) Now there is much confusion within the large borders of Russia and many western nations are afraid of what is happening to the nuclear arsenal of the former USSR.

The international financers and investors who infiltrated Russia as the old regime fell in 1991 were also too quick to shove capitalism and market economics down the throat of the Russian economy, the Russian people I think were not yet ready to become the ideal capitalist society as western corporations, economists, bankers, and politicians tried to push the market economy upon the country too fast, and this allowed certain people in power in Moscow and elsewhere to take advantage of the new system before it had a chance to become secure and properly regulated by the government. Now a chaotic mix of greedy crony-capitalists are mixing with the honest people who are trying to make Russia strong and proud once more and this is having a bad effect on the morale of the nation.

There needs to be a positive approach to the West that at the same time puts the interests of the Russian people first. The greed must be eliminated from the realms of power in Moscow, and then leaders who work for the Russian people, and not for the Western banks must be allowed to take control. I know that Russia invaded Finalnd in 1939 for no reason and that is a very sore spot on us Finns, ( I am Finnish by default) but many Russian lives paid for this mistake and hopefully they will not do it again! (However Russia did beat Nazi Germany and pretty much saved the world) Also Russia is home to some very good Vodka, and some great underground metal heads!

On Kosovo...

I think that this guy Milosevic is a criminal and that his dictatorial government is not something that should be tolerated in this day and age. Anyone who can justify how he has been running his country can justify Hitler as well, because they are not that far apart. This goes the same for all countries that use violence to oppress minority populations, in the USA, Russia, Turkey, Mexico, China, or anywhere ALL nations are guilty, and the politics of the world always find a way to kill people and bring the human race back to the stone age. It's sad and I hope that whatever happens in Kosovo that a freely elected government can be elected in Serbia and in Kosovo, and that someday soon people can find other solutions to these complex problems instead of mass destruction.

On the US policy...

The USA needs to work more with other countries and understand that although the US is the most powerful nation, there are many other countries who are powerful and deserve to be respected so as to reduce the level of mistrust and increase cooperation. Russia, China, the EU, and even countries like Iran need to be respected more to increase better understanding among the different cultures and races.

On democracy...

The USA is a very democratic state, but the problem here is that people are getting politically lazy as they become more and more preoccupied with other distractions and forgetting how important it is to maintain the democracy with full participation. All people care about here, is the economy. If the economy is good than the people just keep to themselves and do not give a fuck about anything. So as long as capitalism keeps sweeping the globe and raping the poor nations, most multinational corporations will be happy, and therefore the middle class Americans will be happy.

On Iraq...

The main factor in Iraq, as it is in Serbia, is the control over information. Today, many wars are fought and won half of the time on the battlefield, and the other half of the battle is fought on CNN. Who ever can wage the best propaganda war with the global media wins the most sympathy. In Iraq, the people there never hear about the bad things that Hussein has done, only the goodthings, therefore as he controls information in the country people never know about anything bad that might have happened.

On fascism and communism...

I think that fascism is a reaction of an idiotic one. It comes as a result of when people want to blame other people for the problems that they have created for themselves. It's always so easy when things go bad to blame the ones who are in the minority or seem to occupy a place in society outside of the what may or may not be considered normal, that is the fascism, which is a very lazy and simply way of looking at the world.

On terrorism...

I see terrorism as losing a lot of its purpose and not being very effective anymore. Also, prevention technology has outpaced terrorism and it is far less prevalent today than it was in the 1980s. By any means, I think it is wrong in most cases because too many innocent people are targeted. Terrorism mostly fails to target the ones who they have the most grief with and therefore it is quite inhumane and unproductive.

On Arab-Israel conflict...

I think it will take mostly a lot of time and trust on both sides before anything is ever settled. This is something that can not have a time table and must be settled when both parties are ready to come to terms. However, if the Israelis take too long they will find that the Palestinians will not wait forever, and then they will have more problems groups like Hamas and such ...

On Bill Clinton and Monica...

That's all with the politics... That is just a refelction of the way that the mass media has taken too much control over everything here in the USA, it's better for them to focus on something like that because it keeps the consumerist masses blind and ignorant of the many other more important things that they should be thinking about, like how the G-7 is taking over the global economy with greed and stealth by using the IMF and the World Bank to control the poor nations and keep them down.

On greatest fear...

My greatest fear is being eaten alive by animals, as well as being the one on a crashing airplane.

On groupies...

We're death metal and there are not too many groupies for death metal. However, we have had some, and will remember them quite fondly!

On the top five albums of all times...

VADER "De Profundis"
KRABATHOR "Lies"
SUFFOCATION "Pierced from Within"
HELLOWEEN "Walls of Jericho"
IRON MAIDEN "Powerslave"

To young musicians...

I think he or she should form a band whenever they want! You do not need to be good to form a band, look at 90 percent of black metal today!

To fans...

Many thanks and please keep the underground alive! The underground is strong and will always be above (or under, hee hee) the politics and cultural differences of the people of the world. Do not listen to propaganda, seek the truth. Stay metal.
